09/21/15:::::::Winners Crowned as Points Battles Tighten at Raider ET Series

For the second time this year, weather threatened to cost local bracket racers a chance at some big paydays. Earlier this summer, Virginia Motorsports Park had to cancel their leg of the Raider ET Series due to weather. This past weekend, the series came to MDIR for the first of two trips, with rain in the forecast. Racers woke up to heavy showers Saturday morning, and the chances of racing look bleak. But the MDIR staff took advantage of a reprieve in the weather and went to drying the track around noon. At 3pm, racers were called to the lanes for their one and only time run.

Big money bracket racing got back into full effect at MDIR this past weekend, with racers vying for more than $30,000 in guaranteed money between the Top, Mod and Junior Dragster races. While no racer doubled up on the race track, one winner did take home the top prize in the poker portion of the event both days. Allen Jenkins, father of Junior Dragster racer AJ Jenkins, was able to come up with the best poker hand on both Saturday and Sunday to take home the winner’s prize of the $1,000 cash each day. Allen, who didn’t pilot a car down the track at any point over the weekend, went home with a considerable chunk of cash. Using a full house to win both days, Jenkins $2,000 weekend prize put him near the top of the weekend’s winners.

06/22/15:::::::Wesley Washington Wins One as Steve Witherow Doubles Up at $5K Triple Header

The two day event features two $5,000 to win racers for Top ET, all run on the quarter mile. Top ET would compete on both Friday night and then again on Saturday, where they would be joined by the remainder of the Speed Unlimited ET Series.
