02/10/12  -  The new concrete slab in the center of the starting line is now poured.  Once the cleanup process is finished next week, we will begin prepping the track. Then MIR will be ready to race!

02/08/12  -  The new poured concrete walls are finished, and now we are preparing for the new 6” concrete slab in the center of the starting line. When the concrete slab is complete, the new walls will have a custom vinyl wrap by TC Signs after a 30 day curing period.

01/13/12  -  We are getting the final grade completed for the expansion of the asphalt pad behind the water box for all of MIR’s safety equipment and the new building on the starting line.

01/13/12  -  All of the asphalt in the center of the starting line is being cut out and we are preparing for the new concrete to go in next week.

01/11/12  -  MIR is making a few improvements to the facility for the 2012 racing season to make things a little nicer for our racers and fans. This photo was taken today from up above the scoreboards on the North side of the track.

01/11/12  -  MIR has taken delivery of a second ambulance this winter.  This purchase was funded by MIR as well as the MIR Racer's Fund (special thanks goes out to all of those whose efforts have made this possible as well as everyone who supported the fund).  MIR will now have both ambulances in service at all of our events for racer safety.  This will allow us to keep one ambulance dedicated to the racers on the track while the other can handle any needs elsewhere in the facility.

In addition to the second ambulance, MIR is also putting together a second fire truck for racer safety. A truck has been purchased and Dick Estevez and staff (with the assistance of the MIR EMT's) are building the fire suppression unit. MIR will now have a fire truck at the starting line as well as the top end for quicker response time and double the amount of fire suppressant available. A special thanks goes out to all the MIR EMT's as they have spent a lot of their own time securing and building the new ambulance and fire truck. Please be sure to thank them the next time you see them as they are a great bunch and are "There and Prepared" if you need them!

01/11/12  -  MIR is expanding the asphalt pad behind the water box.  All of our safety and track clean-up equipment will be moved back behind where the previous fence once stood.  That fence has since been removed and that area is currently being leveled and paved.  This project will provide more area behind the water box due to the fact that the equipment will no longer crowd the left lane.

Construction will soon start for the new 24' x 32' building that will store essential track prep and clean-up equipment closer to the starting line for even faster prep / clean-up than ever before.

01/11/12  -  All of the wood bleachers have now been removed.  MIR is proud to announce that all of our 10,000 seats are now all aluminum.

01/11/12  -  Another great feature here at MIR is that every single pit space is now striped with 12’ spots for easy racer parking.

01/11/12  -  With an ever-evolving facility, the time has come to tear down the last remaining original building that was located on the property.  This concession building stood on the North side of the track and served its purpose well for 40 years.

In the last decade, MIR has expanded the pit side of the track with more paving, more seats, new restrooms and the Hot Rodz Diner - leaving the North side of the track used less and less each year.  With the bulk of the crowds spending most of their time on the pit side now, this building has not been used in years. MIR will now be using specialty food vendors on the North side of the track when it is open.

01/11/12  -  MIR’s famous starting line is getting a facelift into the modern era.  We have taken down the last of the guardrails at MIR that were in the center of the starting line. We are also removing all of the old asphalt that's between the two concrete pads and replacing everything with brand new concrete. This new concrete pad will extend from the water box to the Christmas tree.  MIR will also have poured concrete walls in the center for the starter area and a concrete strip to the tree.  This new look will give racers a cleaner and better looking backdrop for all of their photos and videos.

01/11/12  -  All of the old wooden bleachers on the North side of the track have been removed and the mound where they were perched is being leveled. This will give “tailgaters” a larger and better viewing area with no bleachers blocking their view.

01/11/12  -  MIR has purchased additional hand held radios to supplement our existing supply.  This will aid in running events even smoother as more staff can now be in communication with each other.
